Prop overhaul

Post by jchisolm »

Years ago as I was gathering engine, gov, prop, etc I got a 3 blade McCauley prop from Larry Olsen. It came off a 182 - B3D32C407/82NDA. Larry did not send me the prop log book. He was going to, I did not push him as I was not gonna install any time soon and then Larry got killed. The log book is no where to be found.

My plan is to take the prop to a overhaul shop and have them do a overhaul and start a new prop log book. I have no idea how many hours are on the prop but I dont think there is any thing wrong with it - Larry would not have sold me a piece of crap. At about the same time he helped me with a prop governor and had it overhauled for me.

Any suggestions / ideas? I've never gone through the process.

The prop shop will go through it and check the parts for OH, a complete OH will come with a new book. No issues.

Thanks for the info. There are a couple of shops in San Antonio I've looked up. About 1.5 hour drive for me. Dallas is another option but that's about 3.5 to 4 hours.
