Spring Bias Trim system
I've been looking at various trim systems like Vans RV 10 spring bias system and rudder trim like Aerosport products. My question is do any of you know the secret sauce for selecting the spring? I ordered some springs from Vans and they seem to be about 4lb/in rate, 3 inch unloaded. The install stre...

Re: Fiberglass Cloth
7781 9oz available from lots of places. I have found that Aircraft Spruce usually has the best price/yd. I order the 50" wide stuff. A little easier to handle cutting. Fisker rotary cutter works well as does any quality set of scissors. I ordered peel-ply from Fiber Glast and am not happy with ...

Re: Pitot tube location
Thanks.
I have your KP article printed out and saved in a file folder for the day I need to put in the static ports. Great work. Very helpful.

Pitot tube location
I know my left wing is going to be heavy. So I was thinking of putting the GAP-26 pitot tube and controller out in the right wing. From everything I have read it seems the left wing location on most planes is just because "that's where it has always been". Another note said left was picked...

Re: Nose Gear Failed
I found an old post from Jerry Sjostrand, that said in part, "The torque on the castle nut should be enough so it requires about 25 to 30 lbs at the rear of the fairing to move the assembly side to side" He also said he put a grease fitting in the spindle. There may be a picture in the doc...

Re: Wheeler fuel tanks and new alternate fuels
Alternative fuels are supposed to be 100% compatible with current 100LL. GAMI (??) says you can mix their fuel with 100LL. Glasair used the same resin (or more accurately Express used the same as Glasair). The original was Derakane 411-45. The new version is Derakane 411-350 which has better specs. ...

Re: W&B
I've been busy with job related things and have not had much time to look at the messages here. In the CAFE article on N360EZ the table has the datum 34" forward of the firewall which would be FS 0 (zero, The firewall is installed at FS 34) and CG limits of 76.25" to 82". The example ...

Pitot Static
For those of you still building or thinking of upgrading: I'm installing Garmin G3x Touch. I was looking for push-to-connect tubing and fittings for my pitot, static and AOA. Stein Air was one place many RV builders mentioned. And of course McMaster-Carr. I came across Automation Direct www.automati...

Re: Wing/Strut Fairings
I guess your gear is different than the one piece aluminum gear I have. I've never see any flaring of any kind for main gear. You could make one without much trouble. Since it would not be load bearing you could use any fiber glass cloth and polyester resin (auto store).
