Boarding assist handles

Post by RogerLSpencer »

My express is sitting on Grove gear and I'm working on panel and interior right now. I have not installed the windows but I find that it is a tall airplane and I grasp the rear window frame to board it. Its clear to me that some sort of boarding handle will be required for an old man like me. Has anyone else found this to be a problem? If so what was the solution?

Go to Lowes or Home Depot, in the cabinet hardware section you can find some nice aluminum handles. The screws are not huge, so build up the mount area with 3 or 4 layers of glass and use a washer on the back side. Get the big ones, and mount it in line with the slipstream. Works well and you will not know its there while flying.
