Pitot tube location

Post by jchisolm »

I know my left wing is going to be heavy. So I was thinking of putting the GAP-26 pitot tube and controller out in the right wing. From everything I have read it seems the left wing location on most planes is just because "that's where it has always been". Another note said left was picked because it was closer to the instruments.
Any thoughts on why right wing would not be OK?

Should not make any difference, as long as you put it out toward the end, so no possibility of prop wash interference.

That said, a big consideration in achieving accuracy is where you put your static ports. I wrote an extensive article on that and it includes Express specific data.

Thanks.
I have your KP article printed out and saved in a file folder for the day I need to put in the static ports. Great work. Very helpful.
