Re: Removing tape residue

I use acetone. Works for duct tape and masking tape. I use a razor blade to remove most of it first then finish up with acetone.

Re: Air Condition

I just looked at one of the manuals from http://www.arcticaircooler.com The manual says you can program a "de-ice" time but the factory default is "off". It probably just shuts the compressor off for some amount of time. Some home hvac units will switch the refrigerant flow so th...

Re: Air Condition

I dont have any AC plans (yet). I put the vent in to help cabin air flow. Have you tried to contact Artic Air? They may be able to help. If the evaporator coil is freezing up it could be low refrigerant (not likely in that unit) or not enough air flowing over it. The evaporator needs to absorb heat ...

Re: Air Condition

How big is the exhaust port? I found some round 3 inch louvered vents. I think I got mine from a big box hardware store. Look around where they have dryer vents or hvac supplies. You can search for "marine engine bay vents". I mounted mine in the floor behind the big aft bulkhead. The rule...

Re: Fuel Tank Repair

Is this a solid plug or is it like a SAF-AIR drain valve? If it's a drain valve it's probably just a o-ring issue. I think you can get a re-build kit for them or you might have to replace it. I'm not sure what size it might be. If the leak is around a solid plug you might try some fuel lube on the p...

Re: New owner of a project.

If you need the fiberglass hard points for seat belts, etc you can get sheets of that from eplastics.com
G10 FR4 sheets. You may have to search around the site to find them.

Re: nose gear suspension

Who ever built it may have put the solid link in place. I dont like it. If the nose drops down the tire is only going to take up so much of the energy. The rest is going to try and flex the nose gear at the bracket. I have not done the math but some of the load will go to the firewall. Your nose wei...

Re: nose gear suspension

Here are some pictures of mine. It's been sitting in a box for a long time. Mine does not have a lower bolt hole. I dont remember if I got it from Wheeler or Larry Olsen. Looking for specs on the rubber disk has been difficult but I did find that Vans RV10 and RV14 use a similar nose gear setup. The...

Re: New owner of a project.

Here are scans of the aileron and flap ribs. Print the pdf full scale. It will fit on a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet. I would glue the print to some card stock to make it easier to deal with. Flap rib 1 and aileron rib 3 are made with 1/4 in 40# foam. The rest are 1/4 in 4.5# foam. The 40# foam can be hard to ...

Re: nose gear suspension

See PDF attachment. I found mine and it does look like it's a custom built part. You will probably have to get something made or perhaps someone on the forum knows of a source.
