Jack Point

Suggestions for jacking up the aircraft, say for brake work, etc.
Do you jack via the legs or maybe the tie down point?

Main gear camber

My CT manual says the empty weight main gear camber should be zero degrees. If I lay the grove gear with the inboard flat section that sits between Rib R and Rib J on a flat table and measure the axle mounting flange, I have 10deg positive camber. I cannot find anything with vertical dimensions for ...

If you are still building - summer and vinyl ester resin

I've been getting 411-350 resin now from https://www.sherfab.com. With the warm weather around the corner I asked them about inhibitors. They dont carry any but the sales guy did a search and gave me some options - all very expensive. He asked what work time and temperature I needed. I told him I ne...

Re: MORE! Landing gear woes!

Watch your hole alignment in Rib J. The shim is going to cause the gear leg to pivot around the Rib R bracket and, I think, move up towards the upper skin some. I'm not sure about filling those Rib J holes with mil fiber and re-drilling them. Maybe someone else here can comment. An option might be t...

Re: MORE! Landing gear woes!

I cannot think of an easy fix. Do you have fiberglass, steel or aluminum gear legs? If aluminum or steel you might be able to find a place to bend the bottom of the gear leg in to pull the bottom of the wheel in towards the fuselage. The gear will pivot around the pins in the bracket on Rib R. It mi...

Re: More main landing gear issues

Thanks That confirms my thoughts that these brackets are really for the fiberglass gear or they were just made wrong. I looked back through my invoices and I see I got the brackets from Larry Olson (EDI) but I got the actual gear legs directly from Grove. I made some new pins that go in the sides of...

Re: Wing to fuselage fuel line connections

Thanks Phil - more great info. There were a lot of these details left out of the original Wheeler manuals.

Re: MORE! Landing gear woes!

It could be that Rib R was put in square with the spar and top wing skin. All the other ribs are installed square but Rib R is tilted 5 deg. If you place a small square on Rib R it should not be square with the spar caps. If it is square that could explain the issue. With the 5 deg wing dihedral tha...

Re: More main landing gear issues

Hope the weather holds and you get some quality "express time"
My Cherokee is kind of grounded right now until I get the SkyBeacon installed. Weather is supposed to be nice here also so I'm hoping to get to the airport and get that taken care of.
