Re: Express S-90 SPIN

Thanx. I was told by Darrell that the wheeler express has never been tested in a spin. I do know that the spin recovery for cirrus aircraft is to pull the caps parachute. Supposedly the cirrus will not recover from a fully developed spin. I have been following all the NTSB reports for the wheeler ex...

Express S-90 SPIN

I was curious if any one has ever spun a Express S-90 and how does it recover from a spin? I called Butler Recovery Systems to ask about a spin recovery chute and they told me it would be around 200k to have one designed for my plane. I want to know how it recovers (if it does) from a spin. I feel t...

Re: Static port location

Mine is located about 8 inches aft of the firewall and about 2/3 of the way up from the lower surface OML. I do not know how accurate it is going to be but static ports are easy to calibrate. In past experiences I have used a thin piece aluminum (to create a step) in front of the port or behind the ...

Winglets

I saw a Express with small winglets that looked very nice. I was wondering if anyone knows the owner of the aircraft or has a good design for the winglets. If you do know the owner of that aircraft do you have any contact info? I am mostly concerned about appearance not a big performance increase......

Re: linear actuator for flaps

After more research and talking to Darrell the actuator used is a linak us inc product with 750n of force. This equates to 169lbs of force. I believe that if you take the force of the actuator and times it by the arm (in this case 4" from center or flap torque tube) you will get the torque. I c...

airspeed indicator and flap torque tubes

ac080400.jpg I am building an S-90. I noticed in the POH the Vne is 204Kts. I called Darrell at Express Aircraft and he told me that is is supposed to be 230Kts. Witch is correct? I work at a aerospace company and know that flutter could become a big issue very fast. I am wondering what is the safe...

linear actuator for flaps

Does anybody know the model number and the specification for the linear actuator used on the flaps? I am removing the flex disks out of the system and I am replacing them with universal joints. I need to calculate max force in single shear (as if one flap was jammed) with load path through one flap ...
